Army List's

Hi again folks,

I have not done any painting today, but I have done four of the five list's. That is only because I forgot that I needed five list's. I thought I would start from the top and do the 750 point list, as I thought it would be the easiest one. How wrong was I. The reason for this is even though the weekend is only meant to be a bit of fun, I can see people treating it as a mini tournament. So I need to take models to combat this so I don't die with in two turns. The two model's I have feeled that are a must is the psyker, and Thunderbolt. The psyker is an easy choice for the simple fact that it helps deny the witch, and cause some damage myself.

The Thunderbolt was not so much as an obvious choice, but to me seems the most logical. With the new flyer rule's and the amount of flyer's I am expecting to see I need some anti air, as I have not built or painted my Hydra and don't have any other anti air it was a choice between the Valkyrie and Thunderbolt. The Valkyrie is good in the fact it can carry troop's, but would be rubbish at taking down other flyers. But the Thunderbolt is an out and out fighter with some punch. For 180 points you get a fighter that can deep strike, armoured cockpit, can repair itself. Weapon wise it has two twin linked Autocannons, and twin linked Lascannons. So as you can see the Thunderbolt is one of the toughest and hardest hitting flyers out there, and I hope will chew up ground forces as well as air forces, but we will see.

The other lists were easy just a case of me deciding what I wanted to take. So below is the lists I am going to take, so enjoy and your comments are appreciated.

Psyker Progress

Hi folks,

Sorry for the lack of post's, but normal life and work has taken over slightly this last week. This is down to doing loads of drill ready for our parades in a fortnights time to celebrate the Regiment being back at home. But the good new's from that is I then go on leave for five week's, so I can get loads of painting in.

If you did not read my last post I have stoped work on my Storm Troopers as I get ready for my Campaign weekend up at Warhammer World next weekend. Which I am really looking forward to especially the doubles game along side Colonel Winterbourne and his Praetorian Army, I just hope the quality of my army does not bring his down. But it will be an awesome sight and I will take lot's of pictures.

So here it is my progress so far on my Psyker. The photo's have made it more shiny than it actually is, so I am sorry about that. I have painted the coat red as I want to keep the model in keeping with the rest of my army. The green cuff's are to denote that he is of the higher officer class. The green tabard I have copied off the GW model. I have also decided to try something new for a change as well, I thought it would be nice to go for the inside of the coat to be purple. It has not turned out as nice as I thought it would but it's ok, it's not as if I'm entering the model into any painting competitions. But he will blend in with the rest of the army really nicely.

There you have it, I am hoping to get more of it done today and start on my army list's. As always thanks for looking and your comments are appreciated.

Stop The Progress

Hi everyone,

Work on my Elite Guard ((Storm Troopers) will have to stop for the time. The reason for this is not due to normal life, but rather down to the fact that I am heading to Warhammer World in a fortnight for a campaign weekend.

First off this is the first kind of competition I have entered done by GW and I am looking forward to it. Will I come away with any prize's? I doubt it, as I enjoy playing the game and doing the model's I feel add character and depth to my army rather than how they preform. I hope my army gathers quite a bit of interest along with the other Praetorian brothers as we put up a united front.

The second reason why work on my current project must cease at the moment is so I can paint my Primaris Psyker. I learnt from my game on Thursday is these guy's are really important, and really help in denying the witch. So this is what I am going to move on to.

So keep an eye out as I let you know on my progress. Also I will put up my army list for each point category so you guy's can have a look and pass judgement.

So thanks for looking and I will write again soon.

Progress

Hi folks, sorry for the delay in this post but I wanted to get more done than I originally intended to to my next post. It has taken me a while as I wanted to get the Red done and looking good. To do this I had to split my squad in two as I felt it would be easier. The process I used was a lengthy one compared to what I usually do but I think looks great. The shine will go away once I have completed all the model's and sprayed them with Purity seal which will give them a matt finish.

Below is a list of what I used to get to the end product:

1) Red Gore (This is used over the white undercoat).
2) Red Ink (To give the shade in the recesses, and to make the red a little darker).
3) Blood Red (Highlight on all raised area's).
4) Red Ink (To dull down the highlight slightly).
5) Blood Red (Highlight on all raised areas again).
6) Wild Rider Red (Detail Highlight).
7) Blazing Orange (Top Highlight).
8) Red Ink (To dull down the highlighting so it is not so sharp).
9) Wild Rider Red (Top highlight).
10) Blazing Orange (Spot highlight).
11) Red Ink (Once again to dull down highlight's).
12) Bloodletter Glaze (This is to bring everything together and give the red a softer look. It give it a shine that I don't want, but this will go once I sprayed the model's with Purity Seal).

Also Thursday saw me play my first game of 40k. I went to GW Oxford the day so I could learn the new rules that have been added and to do some painting. I went up against the store manager who loved my army, painting so much that he wanted to put my army in his display cabinet. I have said maybe after the campaign weekend in November I will let them borrow them for a short time.

I lost the game but I was not interested in winning or loosing I just wanted to have some fun and learn what has changed. First off I am happier about the tank rules and have learned you need to protect them behind buildings or troops. The challenge thing is quite good fun but you have to be careful if you are going to accept or not. But apart from that I feel that the game is better and more realistic. I did not get to test the new flyer rules but I will read up on them so I know how to use mine.

So there you have it that's what I have been up to, as always your comments are appreciated and thanks for looking.

It Has Begun

I have returned from my holiday in Wales with the family, and cracked straight on with my new projects. First off I sprayed them with primer, then a black undercoat. I have decided to start on my Elite Guard (aka Storm Troopers) and have split them down into two five man squads. I have done this because I want to spend a little more time painting them as I want them to stand out on the battlefield. So that I get a good red coat on them, I am first doing the same process that I do for my white parts in the army. This being a coat of Codex Grey followed by Fortress Grey then Skull White. I will then do my normal Red Gore highlighted with Blood Red and Blazing Orange. So my veteran squad will take a back seat for now.

In the pictures you will see three painted models, these are my current models two from my vet's and one from my HQ. These I have brought down for reference. The Elite Guard will have the same armour as the HQ model and other bits and pieces, but they won't have green cuffs and collars.

So there you have it that's what I have done so far, but I will do another post tomorrow with further progress so watch this space.
